Why "Detached"?

p1020638-2559843

It is fairly self evident in that we are “detached” from the Serpentine site but the idea for the title came from this jigsaw which we both used to do as children.

One of the smallest pieces was “Flint”, but Flint appeared twice with the second even smaller part being surrounded by other counties and hence known as “Flint – Detached”. And if you have attended any of our talks about Serpentine, you will recall we found Middle Stone Age flint tools on our Cote Heath allotment, while just up the road from “Detached” is Light Wood where one of the feeder streams to Hogshaw Brook flows down Flint Clough.
So there seemed fun connections with both Flint and Detached. I have never worked out what the Derby production line was making, but good to see everyone was wearing a cap.
