Fritillaries

Here at “Detached”, we have three fritillaries in bloom. There should be a good number flowering on the left of the access road just as you enter Serpentine from Burlington Road, though they are sometimes a bit overwhelmed by all the other things growing there.
This image shows why we want them in our garden. We took it at this time of year while we were walking the 150 mile Viking Way which runs from Oakham to the Humber Bridge. We passed this garden on the section between Bardney and Horncastle via Woodhall Spa of Dambusters fame, not far from Bardney. It was the sort of garden that was unforgettable as perhaps the other images show.
