Planting out

A few days ago, we planted out our earliest sown tomato, San Marzano, keeping one plant back to grow in a large container where we can better control the growing environment. It was a dry day, unlike today, but still worth sharing the planting sequence ready for the next dry spell, or when planting inside a greenhouse or polytunnel:

  1. Dig a hole that matches the size of the pot in which the plant is growing on
  2. Give the hole a thorough soaking
  3. Remove the plant from its pot, place in the hole, firm in and water again.
