A Bees-Eye View of the Potager

Our potager is now planted according to the  design created using the the pollinator pathmaker tool, a computer algorithm that maps out a garden that will attract different pollinators as the seasons of the year change. A Pollinator Pathmaker is an artwork for pollinators, planted and cared for by humans.  Click here to see the design created for our potager. You’ll be able to follow it through the season and see how it through a pollinator’s eyes.

The Pollinator Pathway tool was first used when the Eden Project commissioned artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg to create a living sculpture and she  used computer algorithms to allow the pollinators to take the lead in designing the garden.

If you’re inspired to create something for your own garden,  there’s a toolkit that you can use to create a planting plan, as well as seeing simulations of how pollinators, with their different vision, would see the garden.   Do let us know if you use the pollinator pathway and keep us up to date on your progress with photos.
